Dolomite

Dolomite, also known as Dolostone, is not to be confused with the mineral of the same name; it is merely a sedimentary carbonate rock that contains this mineral. A rock of volcanic origin, nuummite was probably formed 3 billion years ago. Although it's one of the oldest rocks on Earth, it wasn't discovered and described until the 1980s. Found only in Greenland, nuummite is very difficult to mine due to the climate and freezing temperatures. It's very rare and is sometimes polished into gemstones.

Enstatite

Enstatite is a common mineral that is often transparent and lightly colored and found mainly in metamorphic rocks. Some varieties are used as gemstones, while others are collected as mineral specimens only. The ornamental and gemstone varieties include bronzite and an emerald green stone called chrome-enstatite.

Prophecy Stone

The prophecy Stone is a trading name for an unusual material that's a limonite (originally stated to be hematite) pseudomorph after marcasite or pyrite. In this case, the mineral itself has been replaced by limonite, but the limonite pseudomorphs still preserve the original shape of the marcasite or pyrite crystals.

Turgite

Turgite is a term used to describe a mixture of hematite and goethite. This material is prized for its luminous, rainbow-like colors that appear when the material is seen from different angles. It is rarely seen tumbled or cut. The name Turgite comes from the Turginsk Mine in Russia, where it was first described.

Anorthosite

Anorthosite is a calcium-rich igneous rock that is found across the planet and beyond – it is a prominent component of rocks brought back from the moon. Anorthosite is mined in some places, as it may contain large amounts of Labradorite, Titanium, or Aluminum, each of which have significant commercial uses.

Rosasite

You may think that rosasite, given its name, is rose-colored. But this sky-blue-hued stone is actually named for the Rosas Mine in Sardinia, Italy, where it was first discovered. This uncommon mineral is mined for its zinc and copper content. The mineral's smooth - almost silky - crystals make it distinctive and attractive to collectors.
